Megan McKean is an Australian designer, illustrator and author with a love for travel, colour, and design to delight.

Megan McKean is a creative with permanently itchy feet — her work is focussed primarily on travel and depicting colourful cities around the world. Creating contemporary souvenirs under her eponymous design label McKean Studio and collaborating with global brands, her work spans digital, print and 3D forms, including her popular illustrated books. Megan's illustrations are characterised by the use of bright colour palettes, strong line work and surprising details hidden within each piece, encouraging the viewer to go back for another look to see what they may have missed.

Her best-selling children’s books have been shortlisted for several awards, including an Australian Book Industry Award, and the Australian Book Designers Association Award. The Hello…! series is published in Australia by Thames & Hudson and has been reprinted multiple times, and is available in English and Chinese language editions.

Select clients include: Hachette, Casetify, Maxwell & Williams, Modernism Week Palm Springs, The Art Gallery of NSW, Play-Doh, The National Gallery of Victoria, Museum of Brisbane, Kate Spade New York, Kiehl's, MYER, Palm Springs Tourism Bureau, Frankie Magazine, SONY

When she’s not illustrating, Megan is usually travelling, and has been a contributing travel writer for Expedia for several years, as well as working with tourism bureaus, tourism festivals, boutique hotels and global chains such as Marriott.

Megan has previously lectured in the design faculty of The University of Technology, Sydney and is passionate about all facets of design, illustration and visual communication. Megan currently works between Australia and Sweden, and is always dreaming of where to travel next.
