Megan McKean for The Big Design Market

I recently had the pleasure of creating a whole ‘City Park’ environment for the great folks at The Big Design Market for this upcoming season of events in Sydney and Melbourne! As a stallholder at both the VIC and NSW events the past couple of years, it's such a thrill to have contributed a colourful creation to be used in the kids play area this November & December.

Taking inspiration from my books Hello, Sydney! and Hello, Melbourne!, I dove into the ideas around backyard play spaces, urban home environments, as well as bugs and birds that you might find in the backyard of your house in Australia! Brainstorming all of these elements was so much fun (and really, when you have to draw butterflies and caterpillars for your job, you know it’s a good brief!). You can expect to see a giant mural full of buildings, feathered friends and beautiful beetles at the Big Design events, as well as specially made cubby-houses where you can have a read of my books!
