Megan McKean for Modernism Week 2020

It’s my most favourite time of the year, Modernism Week in Palm Springs! I’ve been so bloody lucky to have attended Modernism Week for the last 6 years, and over the last several years have wormed my way into some special collaborations and projects especially for the celebrations around the 10 day festival. The theme for Modernism Week 2020 is ‘A Space Modyssey’ and I created a couple of artworks and GIFs inspired by all the things that I thought of when it comes to the ideas around mid-century modern and of course, space. Having the optimism of the mid-century and looking to the future, combined with some of the more ‘futuristic’ buildings of Palm Springs (such as the iconic Alexander House of Tomorrow) mixed in with a little fantasy, like a flying pink Cadillac!
