IKEA Table Makeover

A quick DIY is the best DIY in my opinion; and if I can do it on a budget, then it’s even better! I’d been looking for the right desk for the studio for a couple of months, and we’d gone back and forth on a few different ideas — ranging from long floating desks to matching single desk that could be joined together. We thought we’d solved the problem with a semi-circle design, with the ability to join two desks together to make one large circular table. Just as we were preparing to commit to the circles… they went out of stock. And then out of production. So it was back to the drawing board (or drawing desk, in this case).

Eventually I went back to trusty IKEA, liking the look of the RÖNNINGE and thinking about the options with the extendable plate. I loved the round legs, the light colour of the timber, and the overall feeling of the table where it doesn’t feel too heavy for a space even though it’s quite a big size. Never quite content to leave things as they are, I got to work with some quick customisations to make the table feel a little more special for the studio.
