Jakriborg

On the weekend we hired a car for a couple of hours and headed just 15 minutes out of Malmö to the tiny estate of Jakriborg. In between Malmö and Lund, it’s easy to spot the rows of coloured buildings at Jakriborg from the highway nearby. There is nothing else in terms of development nearby, so this little patch of candy-colours just sticks out on the horizon.

The most bizarre part of Jakriborg, is that it’s a (relatively) new development. Although the buildings look like pre-industrial architecture, it was all built in the late 1990s by two brothers. There are over 500 families that live in Jakriborg today, but for such a tiny ‘town’, to visit on a Saturday there was no-one around. It felt like stepping onto a movie set, or walking through a section of Disneyland… such a fascinating place to visit!
