Wallpaper Bookshelf DIY

Before and After!

Even though our walls are long all painted and the ‘proper’ projects around the apartment are finished, I’m never one to turn down a little extra DIY — especially if it’s a short term way to give a new look or feel to a space. I’d been thinking for a few weeks about adding cut-out panels behind the shelves of the bookcase, that I could wallpaper and switch out based on the season. After giving it some more thought, it seemed like wallpaper the whole inside of the bookcase would be much more straightforward, and wouldn’t require anything extra to be purchased (such as MDF panels or foam-core sheets).

A few wallpaper samples later, and we decided on the very beautiful, very luxurious Blackthorn from William Morris, in the updated ‘Autumn’ colourway. I wanted something cosy for the cooler months, and this design will look extra festive come Christmas time! We spent Sunday afternoon measuring, cutting and sticking in the panels and love the finished result! Everything is just stuck with painters tape and Blu-Tac, so that we can take it down in a few months time and roll up the wallpaper panels ready to use again next year!
