A cosy stay at Jan Luyken hotel Amsterdam

A last-minute weekend in Amsterdam was too tempting an offer to pass up, and while researching hotel options just a few days before leaving I was delighted to stumble across Jan Luyken. A cosy boutique hotel tucked in a townhouse on a lovely leafy street, just a few metres from the Museum Quarter, home to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. This was such a nice neighbourhood to be in - just by Vondelpark, and close enough to walk into central Amsterdam, but away from the hustle-and. bustle of the main tourist areas and attractions.

With a recent revamp and interiors by Dutch design studio Nicemakers, the spaces throughout Jan Luyken feel comfortable and well-considered. Communal spaces such as a library and lounge area, sitting spaces around the lobby, and the kitchen/dining room feel warm and welcoming with lots of lovely details. Jan Luyken offers a ‘home away from home’ feeling, with breakfast, coffee, evening snacks and drinks offered for all guests all throughout the day, included in the room rate.

The guest rooms are on the smaller side, but well-appointed and perfect for a short stay. Overall a wonderful and colourful visit, and I can’t wait to come back again!
