Rainbow Spotting: Palm Springs Architecture & Design Museum

The rainbow bright show by Jim Isermann — Cut. Copy. Repeat at the Palm Springs Architecture & Design Museum is a visual delight; an overload of colour and lots of playful pieces integrated into the exhibition, like a giant mobile of flower cut-outs suspended in the middle of the room, and floral paintings mounted to the ceiling as part of the lamps. The vinyl decal ‘hedge’ that wraps the building can be seen from the inside and outside, making it feel like being immersed in a beautiful, colourful garden inside!

The paintings that make up the show ‘Copy. Pattern. Repeat’ are energetic and cheerful, and taking half an hour to admire the sharp lines and geometric finesse in each piece will change the mood of your whole day ahead. Jim Isermann has lived and worked in Palm Springs for more than 20 years, and bases his practice from his home; a restored Donald Wexler pre-fab steel home — the love for mid-century design and the feeling of Palm Springs is evident in all of his work.
