Vinyl Wrapped Fridge DIY

There aren’t too many home projects left that we want to tackle in our apartment — after spending all of last spring working on our home extensively, and the months since then tweaking and making small adjustments. The things that are left are the kind of projects that are definitely not urgent, and just aesthetics really. Despite my best attempts I could not get the stainless steel fridge to remain fingerprint and grime free (and with a curious puppy, occasionally lick marks were thrown in the mix too). We had been looking at a new fridge but couldn’t find one that we liked that fit the dimensions for the space in the kitchen. A little bit of research into car vinyl, and a few PhotoShop mockups later, and I was ordering a couple of meters of moss green vinyl to attempt the wrap the fridge in.

Just like the old days of covering your school books in contact, the vinyl sheets felt very similar — even at the much larger scale of the refrigerator size! There were a few finicky corners, and a fussy cut-out panel in the centre of the fridge, but overall it was a fairly smooth (pun not intended) process! The update feels subtle, but much more nicely integrated into the kitchen now with the other mossy and olive greens we have in the shelves and the moulding trim.
