Gucci Flagship, Florence

Italy receives plenty of love for the luxury shopping available in the major cities, especially Florence and Milan, but even if you’re not looking to splash the cash on a statement piece, the Gucci Flagship store is a treat to stop into. It looks quite unassuming from the outside, a corner store on a typical street, but stepping inside is like walking into an adult sized jewellery box.

The Gucci store in Florence was the first opened when the company started in 1921, and has been running ever since. I can only hope I look that good at almost 100 years old. Plush carpets, quilted wall panels, swathes of velvet and beautiful antique rugs are the backdrop for the products available for purchase, but are just as gorgeous to take in as the handbags or shoes.

Set across 3 levels, the store has everything available in the Gucci range — handbags, belts, shoes, men’s and women’s ready to wear, beauty and candles, homewares and even kids wear. A masterclass in visual merchandising, and an ode to the power of pink.
